Corner House Loft, Mevagissey.
Corner House Loft is possibly one of our most successful renovations, and one we are extremely proud of. The existing flat was a cramped, three bedroomed, dated and damp property and the new owner wanted to create a sleep 2, luxury pad with a ‘WOW’ factor.
We started the rip out and as is often the case, uncovered all sorts of issues, but once walls and ceilings were removed and new steels in place, the flat could start to take shape. A spacious kitchen/dining/snug area with a quality kitchen was installed, along with a separate comfy living room. A bespoke floating oak staircase was commissioned to take guests to the open plan bedroom/bathroom with a painstakingly hand laid penny floor in the boutique hotel style bathroom.
With some very clever use of key designer pieces combined with high street soft furnishings, the overall look and feel is one of comfort and quality with a solid re-build of this 19th century property.
Despite a summer finish, the property has already attracted good booking levels with exceptional feedback. If you have a big project and don’t know where to start, hopefully this will help give you the inspiration you need.
2 Rose Lodge, St Ives.
Owner Mrs Betty and Mr Peter Hain (son)
When the owners of Rose Lodge started to look into how they could improve their property, their agent, Aspects Holidays, were their first port of call for advice. They were able to encourage the owner to realise the potential of the property if they were prepared to invest in more than just a basic redecoration. Rose Lodge has been a holiday let for many years, originally with another agent, but in that time had not had any major works undertaken. It had relied heavily on a great view to keep guests coming back. Havos took time to talk through with Betty and Peter what could be done for their budget, we worked closely with the Property Manager at Aspects Holidays to ensure we got the maximum results within budget in order to increase bookings and revenue.
It was decided that a new kitchen and bathroom were a must and then a mini refurb on the living room and bedroom furnishings including new flooring in place of the carpet and a revamp of the most important part of the room; the window seat with that all important view.
We worked closely with Betty, Peter and Aspects throughout the project, sending pictures of progress and liaising regularly about styling and spend.
The final result was a refreshed and revitalised apartment, where the view still took centre stage but was complimented by a modern and attractive interior. All this within budget and on time and the best thing is that bookings and revenue have almost doubled with an average of 38 holidays booked in a year.
